Arctic Explorations 2025
In April 2025, I joined the Arctic Circle Residency in Longyearbyen, Svalbard. This was a 2-week sailing trip aboard a barquentine ship, the Rembrandt Van Rijn. 28 artists- painters, writers, filmmakers, poets, sculptors, guides and crew, lived and worked exploring the glaciers, water, ice, birds, and animals in the high Arctic. We visited Ny-Alesund @ 79 degrees, the most remote inhabited scientific research center. While on this residency, I created plein air watercolors on land and on the ship. The watercolors here document this residency and are the beginnings for a new series of larger paintings based on my trip to the Arctic. Enjoy.
